ReplyDeleteThe difference between a failure for the fixed mindset and the growth mindset is how they react to it. A person with the fixed mindset would give up, saying that he/she is not able to do the thing, while a person with the growth mindset would look at how he/she failed and work on improving him/herself. For example, if someone with a fixed mindset could not solve a math problem, he/she would give up, saying that he/she wasn't smart enough. However, if someone with a growth mindset ran into the same problem, he/she would look at the part of the problem he/she couldn't solve, study up on it, and attempt math problems similar to the one he/she did
ReplyDeleteYes, I completely agree with this statement. An individual's reaction to any situation is what differentiates success from failure. A person's mindset is the single most important thing in order to achieve their dreams and success. -Abhinav

ReplyDeleteA person can change his or her mindset by understanding that it's okay to fail. I think the biggest difference between a person with a fixed mindset and a person with a growth mindset is that the growth mindset understands that failure is part of the process while a fixed mindset sees failure as a terrible thing. By understanding that failure is a part of the process, you can take that knowledge and apply it to how you can move on from that failure
ReplyDeleteA person could change their mindset by instilling thoughts towards the direction of the new mindset they want to change to. By instilling these new thoughts towards the mindset they are aiming for, they will then start to displace the thoughts of the other and change them out. The person would need to continuously think new thoughts relating to the new mindset they're achieving, because their brain is already fixed to the idea of the previous thoughts
ReplyDeleteThe difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset in failure is that with a fixed mindset you never think that you will get better since you were always told that your the best and a lot of different things that were not being commented on the process but on the finished product and that is how a fixed mindset is shaped. A growth mindset can be created by doing the exact opposite of a fixed mindset which would be. Getting complimented on the process that you took instead of the final answer or solution which will put a growth mindset within you.
ReplyDeleteI think there is a correlation between cheating and a fixed mindset. I believe that people who have a fixed mindset are too afraid to fail or be wrong so they result to doing something like cheating. Rather than answering something wrong and learning from it later, people with a fixed mindset feel the need to cheat. People with a growth mindset decide to answer the best to their knowledge and if the result turns out negatively, they can correct their mistakes and learn from them. For example, in tests people with a growth mindset would answer to the best of their knowledge while people with a fixed mindset would be too afraid to get something wrong and cheat. The person with a growth mindset would get their test back and see what they got wrong, and could go and ask the teacher if there was something they could do to recover credit, and even how to do better next time. Those people with a fixed mindset would get a good score and not learn from what they didn’t understand.

ReplyDeleteWhen we do anything, we should tell ourselves to do our best. Since we are already spending time to do it why not do our best. If we are not satisfied with our own work, we should think how we can improve next time, instead of blaming on others or even just limiting yourself. Attempt anything, don't limit yourself and go and learn new stuff and expand your knowledge.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree
DeleteI truly agree what you say. When a person have already spending time on doing something, why not just do your best. If you do not do your best, or just quickly finish it, it is wasted. You waste your time, and get a bad outcome. -Jimmy Lu
DeleteLove it. At our age, we have a lot of time to do the best. We have opportunity to make us better. So don't limit ourselves and go and learn new stuff to improve ourselves ability.

ReplyDeleteI believe that a person can change their mind set because I have. In math, I use to have a fixed mind set because nothing was registering in my brain. But after i realized that i wasn't going anywhere with a fixed mindset, i tried my hardest to study and try to learn the concepts.

ReplyDeleteI think there is a correlation between cheating and a fixed mindset, because a person with a fixed mindset is less likely to try their best. Instead, they believe that they are not good enough, and that their only chance of passing a test is to cheat. However, if they had a growth mindset, they would study more and try to improve themselves so they can do better on the next test.

ReplyDeleteA person can change his mindset by working hard, staying focused, not getting distracted, and also by listening to what is going on. In my opinion the biggest most difficult thing to do is do your work and not whine about what you must need to do but if you are there you should just do it no matter what you think. JOSE NUNEZ
ReplyDeleteThe difference between a failure and a fixed mindset vs. a failure and a growth mindset, is that people who are in a fixed mindset believe that they aren’t good at something. While people with a growth mindset believe anyone can do anything, because your abilities are entirely due to your actions. In a fixed mindset, you believe “She’s a natural born singer” or “I’m just not good at dancing.” In a growth mindset, you believe “Anyone can be good at anything. Skill comes only from practice.” -Marie Vogeler
ReplyDeleteI think motivated by fear means the people who have failed once know what's the result and how bad it is, so due to the fear of result, they are doing their best to not fail. In the real life, people who have experienced bankruptcy and have a lot of debts with fees know how hard it is to pay back. In addition, to return the money, it restricts enormous services what human being should get. So, people who had bankrupted can motivated by the fear of failure.

ReplyDeleteI think a person can change the way they think if they try hard enough and if they really put their mind to it. I used to be really bad at almost every subject but I realized I wasn't gonna get anywhere in life if that kept going so I decided to try really hard but do all my homework and actually pay attention in class and after a while my grades started improving.
ReplyDeleteGood, keep working at it!
DeleteI think there is a correlation between cheating and a fixed mindset. When people have a fixed mindset, they are more likely to cheat because they are afraid of making and/or admiting to mistakes that they made. Other factors, such as academic pressure from home, school, or peers, may also play into this. The fear of being considered as "less" by parents or peers can also make someone, especially one with a fixed mindset, feel like they need to cheat.
ReplyDeleteThe universe got out of my way when I decided who I was gonna be. I felt like I was lost within myself and I didn't know who I was. I didn't know the kind of person I was. I wanted to find myself and so I started doing things that fueled my spirit and I felt like I was opening up to the world. I wanted to be better. I wanted to do good not only for myself, but for others and things just started clicking and flowing. Doing good things for others will make yourself feel good too. I felt happy that I could finally be myself and I didn't care what other people said or if they judged. I was doing me and that is all that matters.

ReplyDeleteA person can change their mindset when they start thinking differently. When a person with a fixed mindset starts to understand that it's ok to to fail that's when they are changing their mindset. I think that there is a correlation between cheating and a fixed mindset. A person with a growth mindset will study for a test and a person with a fixed mindset will not study and most likely cheat. People with growth mindsets are always challenged.
When I first came to the U.S, I found myself wearing a turtleneck in the winter while local students wearing light training clothes. To build up a strong constitution and fit in with the new environment, I decided to jog between school and home for 40 minutes each way on school days. Increasing body heat through jogging reduced my dependence on bulky winter clothing. After one year, I could finally run freely wearing light clothes like peers in winter.
ReplyDeleteNo one's life has always been successful, there will always have some struggle and challenges in every day of our life. Life provides us the opportunities of going through the setbacks, which can help us to become a person who is much stronger and more optimistic. Life wants to make sure that I won’t be teared apart or freak out when I face the challenges. Therefore, I am aware that there will be various kinds of struggles in my future life, and I am ready to face them since they will help me grow stronger. Whatever challenge it will be, physical or mental, academic or social, I will always bear in mind that the efforts and tears I pay today will eventually build the colorful rainbow tomorrow.

Growth mindset is persevering to improve and gain knowledge, whereas fixed mindset is giving up when failing and believing you can't do any better. If one fails with a growth mindset, they will not give up and continue trying to succeed. However, if one fails with a fixed mindset, they will not try again or continuing to better themselves. For example, if a a student fails a test, they will study and try harder on the next test if they have a growth mindset. But if they have a fixed mindset, they will just give up and think that they can't do any better. Challenges and failures do not intimidate people with growth mindsets.
ReplyDeletei used to think i couldnt and wouldnt be able to finish a research report that was due in a couple days because i didnt start anything and just felt like there was not enough time and kept putting myself down with no way around. i knew i wouldnt pass the class if i didnt turn it in but found a way to motivate myself to finish the report in just those days that it was due therefore realizing that u are in control of being what u set your mind too.
ReplyDeleteA person could change their mindset by simply believing. Believing in themselves and trusting the process is a part of the growth mindset. Understanding that anyone is capable of doing anything with the right mindset is the first part of the process. Belief is the next part. With these two things, with persistence, anyone can change their mindset.

A person can suppose to change his or her mindset, but during the time of changing, there is something happen that have simulate him. Let me give you a example. A little boy is very fixed mindset, he have bad grade in class. One day, his friend is talking to him and say , your grade is too bad, please go away from me, and then, the little boy feel shame, and start to hard working on sturdy. Usually, shame can make a people growth, but if you do not care anything, then it is not useful to you. To change a person's mindset is hard, because what you do before will affect the things that you do when you grow up.

I think a person can change the way they think if they can belief they can do the best. Belief can lead us confident, when we try something. We are young, we have a lot of time to do something best. We can change it one by one and focus on your work. The difficulties are temporary. If we do these, it means we try hard enough. If the result is not good, we will not regret it, because we have tried.

I think that when Will Smith says he is "motivated by fear" he means that when he wants to do something that he thinks he can't do, he thinks of a consequence that he is fearful of occurring relating to the situation and that motivates him. We can apply this idea to our everyday lives because if we think we can't do something or we are scared of something, that situation can motivate us to overcome our fear.
